Escape into nature

The stunning natural landscapes of Slovenian Istria are calling out to be explored! Discover untouched hidden corners in picturesque landscape parks and diverse nature reserves. Feel the peace and tranquility along the paths of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park’s salt fields, or embark on an adventure in Strunjan along the highest flysch cliff on the Adriatic coast. Beneath it, you’ll find Moon Bay, home to one of the most beautiful, pristine, and secluded beaches—far from the hustle and bustle and accessible only on foot. Would you prefer to explore the rich underwater life up close? The natural monument Cape Madonna is the perfect spot for you!

With e-bikes, set off from coastal towns to explore authentic Istrian villages surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, and orchards. Everything is enveloped in peace and serenity. One might think that time has stood still here. Explore the rich hillsides, stop for a local feast of fresh Mediterranean delights, listen to the serene story of the gentle breeze, or lose yourself for a few hours in the picturesque countryside. Discover the diversity of the countryside.

Welcome to the Green Mediterranean!

Let us act responsibly, safely, and sustainably

For many years, we have been striving to act sustainably and responsibly towards the beautiful green nature and rich local cultural heritage, aiming to set an example for others with our actions. In doing so, we adhere to high hygiene standards. We have combined our commitment to creating conditions for a safe holiday into the Green & Safe label.

We present to you the foundations of a green and safe destination:

  1. Slovenia is one of the safest countries in the world. Based on 23 criteria evaluating the peace and safety of countries, Slovenia has been ranked among the safest countries globally for several years. In the most recent publication of the Global Peace Index for 2020, Slovenia ranked 11th. Through responsible actions, we maintain our collective safety.
  2. We are a model for green destinations worldwide. Slovenia is the first country to receive the prestigious Green Destination title as an entire nation. Our commitment to sustainable development in Slovenian tourism is proven by international awards such as the Best of Europe 2020, part of the 2020 Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards. Portorož is one of 50 tourist destinations under the umbrella brand SLOVENIA GREEN, meeting the criteria of the Green Destinations Standard.
  3. We love living actively, healthily, and green. We are the only European country that combines the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Karst, and the Pannonian Plain. Slovenia is home to over 22,000 species of animals and plants! Forests cover approximately 60% of Slovenia’s surface area. Nearly 40% of Slovenia's territory is designated as protected natural areas. From city centers, it’s just a step into lush green nature. Don’t miss the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities!
  4. Boutique and unique experiences 365 days a year. In Slovenia, every day of the year offers the chance to discover, visit, experience, and taste something new in a boutique way! We are a land of unique experiences, far from mass tourism. The diverse landscape provides a wide range of outdoor activities, and on circular journeys across the country, each region offers its own authentic local cuisine. In a country renowned for its healthy waters and spas, you’ll easily find opportunities for a green, active, healthy, and safe getaway.

We support achievements

The YouSea Institute achieved remarkable milestones in 2024 in the field of marine ecosystem conservation. Through their dedication and community support, they implemented numerous projects, including the installation of the first underwater structure, Marine Oasis Piran, the execution of the Blue School program, which inspires young people to protect the sea, and the launch of the initiative "Better Than Before", encouraging nature visitors to collect waste.

We are proud to support the YouSea Institute in their important work to preserve natural heritage and look forward to continued collaboration in their mission.
