The Italian Venice
Baroque Orchestra, established in 1997 by harpsichordist, explorer and
conductor Andrea
Marcon, is one of the greatest ensembles dedicated to performing concert and opera
music from the 17th and 18th centuries, using historical
instruments. The orchestra, under Marcon ́s guidance, revives the forgotten masterpieces of
that period and reinvents them. It is in the spirit of the true Baroque
orchestra that its scope and musicians change, depending on the demands of the
repertoire. Vivaldi ́s compositions, both famous and less known ones, form the
bulk of its performances. The musicians thrill audiences throughout the world
with fresh energy, their stylish expressiveness and the clear sound of string
instruments.
Giuliano Carmignola,
named an aristocrat among violinists by the magazine Gramophone, is
particularly fond of Italian music from the 18th century. He
collaborates with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra from Basel, Il giardino armonico, Academy of
Antique Music in Berlin and many others. He also
made his name as a conductor for many known orchestras.
He is also involved in
discography. He made records for with a number of respected record labels,
including recording violin concerts by J.S. Bach with Concert Köln musicians.
He is currently under contract with the German record label Deutsche Grammophon.
