The story of Gostilna Sonja began in a picturesque village on the hill above Izola, back in 1988 when they first served the fruits of the Istrian land. After a decade of creating delicious Istrian dishes, at the beginning of the new millennium, the owners decided to relocate to Izola, the most celebrated Slovenian fishing town. There are still small wooden fishing boats floating around the harbour of Izola, where the fishermen sell their daily catch. Sit back in the cool shade of the restaurant’s terrace, with the smell of sea in the air, and enjoy a glass of locally made wine, while the staff spoils you with delicacies provided by the Istrian land and its long-standing culinary traditions. Indulge in the aroma of sea-salt and rosemary and savour the pure and authentic flavours of Istria and the Adriatic.
