The municipalities of Piran, Izola, Ankaran and Koper invite you to a joint celebration of National Day with a concert by Laibach. The keynote speaker will be the Commander of the Civil Protection of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Srečko Šestan.
Leibach's artistic program uses visuals and music to create new dimensions of understanding the state, and its meaning through the identities of the individual and individuals in the community. They will present a short program from their long career and will be joined on stage by Donna Marina Mårtensson and special guest and Silence vocalist Boris Benko.
Laibach has been Slovenia's most internationally renowned and influential music group for over four decades, founded on 1 June 1980 in Trbovlje. Her musical expression combines different genres, from a more experimental, 'industrial' sound, to symphonic, so-called 'militant' classicism, with a touch of electronic music. They are the founders of the so-called retro avant-garde art movement, which they practiced in the early 1980s.
We expect an increased number of visitors on National Day, so we urge everyone planning to attend to leave home in good time. City buses will take you to the main bus station in Piran. Visitors arriving by private car are kindly requested to park in Lucija or Portorož. On the day of the event, access from the Customs Pier to Tartini Square will be restricted to emergency vehicles only.
In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the former Grando salt warehouse in Portorož and the number of seats in the audience will be limited.
