Discovering the stories of the past

Piran is not only admired, because of its exceptional beauty, visibility and history, but is also distinguished by the cultural richness of a dense, medieval city centre lying on a narrow peninsula. The city has been given full monumental protection due to its powerful, well-preserved wall,  and is also a member of the Association of Walled Cities.

Piran has a variety of museums and galleries, both large and small, that showcase different exhibitions.
You will find everything about the city of Piran; from the origins and its journey, to its rich legacy and maritime history, as well as all about the world-famous citizen, violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini. You will also be amazed by the many creatures that live in the Slovenian sea, the courage of the first divers, collections featuring everything from the smallest snail to the giant shell, and the sacral history of the ten city churches and the Minorite Monastery, as well as their numerous works of art and treasuries.
